Yishun is probably most well known for the sheer amount of cats being killed in the area. The first culprit, Lee Wai Leong, was recently arrested and charged with throwing an adult male Mackerel Tabby domestic shorthair over the parapet on the 13th floor. The 40-year-old has an "IQ of a 10-year-old child", according to his lawyer, and the court agreed that Lee committed his crimes due to “a lack of moral intelligence and social judgement … and self-control”, as opposed to out of malice.
However, Lee is only charged with one of the 18 alleged cases of cat abuse in the Yishun district.
