Yishun Central: LTA Spends 3 Months Building Bicycle Path, But Demolishes It Upon Completion

In truly inexplicable behavior, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) spent over three months to construct a bicycle lane near Yishun Central. There's nothing wrong with wanting to make Singapore a more car-lite society, but there's a problem with this particular project. The bicycle lane was demolished a day after it was completed to make way for a bus stop. Yes, a project that the LTA spent upwards of 90 days to build was demolished less than 24 hours after it was finished.

The incident sparked discussion online, with residents questioning the amount of resources wasted on similar incidents. LTA replied to the debacle, stating that this was an "isolated incident" and that it could have been prevented if they had done more to "ensure effective coordination internally".
