Nurlaili Rubamis was about to alight at Chong Pang Community Club when the bus driver suddenly applied the breaks. She promptly fell onto the floor and hit her right arm on a handrail. According to the 45-year-old, she felt little pain and did not inform the driver since she wasn't bleeding. The pain, however, intensified minutes after and she couldn't even lift her arms.
She paid a visit to the nearby Khoo Teck Puat Hospital and did an X-Ray. The doctor then informed her that she had actually suffered a serious fracture and had to undergo emergency surgery a few hours later. Mdm Nurlaili eventually had 15 stitches on her right forearm besides having a metal plate inserted, and her medical bills walloped to about $3,000.
SMRT is investigating the incident.
