Yishun: Mynah Population Control Fails

Yishun residents have been complaining about the noise caused by mynahs, a species of birds that are considered "invasive". Prior efforts by the government to prune trees and limit their food sources have proved unsuccessful, and the authorities will begin fogging the area in their latest attempt to drive the mynah population down.

The chemicals used causes temporary irritation to the mynahs which deters them from returning, and the Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority (AVA) has assured the public that the fog "acts as a sensory repellent and will not harm the birds".

With that being said, the authorities have admitted that this won't be a long-term solution, as the root cause of the issue to begin with lies with residents feeding the birds, according to Member of Parliament, Mr Louis Ng.
